Kim understands the crunch that people are feeling now in the economy, and he feels strongly that at this crucial time for the economy that reform needs to come from within Wisconsin. That's why he co-sponsored a border incentive grant program in the Assembly that would allow businesses to be awarded grants if they begin in or expand into a bordering county and create at least 100 full-time jobs with an average wage equal to at least 200 percent of the federal poverty line.
Kim knows the burden that is put on families and homeowners in Wisconsin, which is why he authored the Home Owners Property Tax Exemption Bill (HOPE) that would exempt the first $60,000 of property value from property taxes.
Kim Hixson understands that affordable health care is a priority for all families and he's been working to make sure it is a priority in the Assembly.
The cost of prescription drugs are too high for our seniors, which is why Kim led the fight in the State Legislature to convince our federal representatives to help save SeniorCare, saving seniors in Wisconsin hundereds of dollars on prescription drugs.
As a parent and legislator Kim knows that we have a responsibility to make sure that every child in Wisconsin is insured. As a representative Kim was proud to vote to insure 98% of children under BadgerCare Plus. This also gives working class families and pregnant women in Wisconsin access to comprehensive, affordable health care coverage.
Kim also co-sponsored a bill which mandated all fully-insured employers to pay for the cost of treating autism. He worked with Democrats and Republicans to try to get this important piece of legislation passed to provide help for families across Wisconsin.
With gas prices continuing to increase and the strain that the current system is putting on our environment Kim knows that the legislature must put an increasing priority on looking at alternative fuel solutions and better mass transit systems.
